“When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on.” – Thomas Jefferson.
It reminds me to hold on.
And I’m so glad I have friends to support me when I can’t hold on any longer.
One such friend sent me this link to a beautiful song by Shane and Shane titled “Though You Slay Me”
I hope you’ll listen to this YouTube rendition of the song. It spoke to my troubled heart.

Smack dab in the middle of the song (At 3 minutes and 24 seconds) are the words I needed to hear spoken by John Piper
I heard clearly from the Lord today.
All that is going on in my life is not in vain.
My affliction is light in comparison to the Glory of God.
Every millisecond of my misery is producing a peculiar glory.
Do not lose heart, dear friend. There IS hope.
Get alone with God every morning until you preach the Word into your mind and soul.
And then you will sing with confidence as you trust Him to bring you HOPE.
He is with me….
Job 13:15 Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
Even so, I will defend my own ways before Him.
Oh how I needed this today.
Do you?
How can I pray for you?
Tell me your story and we will hold on together.

So watch your step, friends. Make sure there’s no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. Hebrews 3:12 (The Message)
No sooner were the words out of his mouth than the father cried, “Then I believe. Help me with my doubts!” Mark 9:24 (The Message)
Believing can sometimes be difficult when the circumstances of our lives are far from what we expected.
We want to have faith for something different but the scene is playing unfamiliar and uncomfortable.
So what does God ask of us in this situation?
Ask Him like the father did in Mark 9:24. “Hey God, I’m having my doubts. Can you please help me in my unbelief? I want to believe but I’m struggling right now.”
He hears your cry for help in your unbelief. His power will help you believe more and more.
Just ask and trust He’s working on it.
Absolute trust.
Can you do it? I think you can and I’m praying for you now.
God bless your heart that cries out to God for strength and power. Just ask Him.

The idea for this blog post came from the devotional book God Calling by AJ Russell published by Barbour Publishing. I highly recommend it as a daily devotional tool to spur you on in the things of God.
