About me

by gigimurfitt

I’m Gigi, a teacher,  author, speaker, and mentor from southern Idaho. Prior to moving to Idaho, I lived in the Seattle area for over thirty years. I’m a Montana native, born and raised in a small town where we played outside until the street lights turned on.

I’m Helen, the fifth daughter, and eighth child of Bob and Helen Devine. I’m not often called by my birth name but it blesses me to be named after my mom. I’ve been called Gigi since before I was born. Here’s a few ways people address me.

I’m Gig (pronounced JEEJ) to my husband, Steve, my nine siblings, and their extended families. It’s an army of people I love dearly who affectionately call me Gig.

I’m Mom to two wonderful sons. I’ve often been called “Zane’s mom,” or “Gabe’s mom.” Both of these titles I’m very proud to wear.

I’m Nana (or Nanny), totally in love with my six grandchildren.

I’m Ms. Murfitt to the beautiful students I teach in my English and Oral Communications classes.  Teaching is a second career for me, and so far it is my favorite.

I’m royalty! I found out there are princes and princesses in my lineage. But I already knew I was the daughter of the one true King. That’s a crown I’ll wear in eternity.

I’ve been thinking about identity lately. I plan to focus my writing on finding our true identity as I share the journey that has led me to where I am today.

I’m obsessed with reading and my blog will certainly show it. There is always a good book on my nightstand or in my audio files. I blog about what I read, what I want to read, and what inspires me.

I’m just getting re-acquainted with my little blog, and I hope you enjoy it. I’ll have fresh new material but some of my old articles are worth the read. My goal is to encourage and bring hope to my readers.

The books I’ve written were penned with a heart for helping my reader know they are not alone in this scary world. I teach tools to help you navigate your own roads and detours. Trust me, I’ve been on plenty of detours.

Welcome to my writing space where I hope we will get to know each other as fellow travelers along the road to our true identities.

Gigi
